Laces shooting drill for youth soccer
Updated
Laces shooting is a beginner-level soccer drill. The laces shot is how you hit a ball hard. It is a completely different motion from a pass, and it depends on a clean plant foot and a locked ankle. It builds shooting power, technique and follow through. It needs soccer ball and goal or wall, and can be done on a field. This page lists 5 numbered steps and 3 common mistakes with their fixes. The demonstration video is AI-generated.

Plant beside it
Non kicking foot right next to the ball, toe pointed at your target.
Point your toe down
Lock your ankle with your toe pointed down and strike with your laces.
Hit the middle
Contact the middle of the ball to keep the shot low. Get under it and the ball flies over the goal.

Follow through so you land on your shooting foot, moving toward the target.
